Which hat was this concept pulled from?

Welcome to Streak for Cancer - my 4:00 in the morning "ahhh haaa" moment!

On March 17th, 2010 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Indolent Lymphoma (NHIL).  A non-curable, only treatable through chemotherapy, blood born cancer, found completely through "fluke" on my liver during a totally unrelated x-ray three days before Christmas 2009.  For three months (December 2009 - March 2010) prior to a liver biopsy performed on St. Patrick's day 2010, we were being prepared for a diagnosis of Liver Cancer.  By redefining my diagnosis through the biopsy as NHIL, we were given time - a truly great gift!  Although the diagnosis of "not curable" may initially seem worse by definition, my family experienced great relief in this Lymphoma diagnosis.

Treatment will only occur on an "as needed basis".  It is with great relief, my current treatment is "wait and watch" by one of the best Cancer Teams at Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton Ontario.  So long as my diagnosis and health remains at bay, I continue living life to it's fullest, making every day count!

While healthy, my family hoped to invest our time and energy into a project sure to leave it's mark on cancer research.  Streak for Cancer truly is my "four in the morning - AHHH  HAAA moment".

Streak for Cancer is a cancer campaign raising money through the sales of coloured hair extensions associated to specific cancers. (ie. Pink for Breast Cancer, Navy Blue for Prostate Cancer, Red for Melanoma Cancer...)

Stay tuned...more information on this local fundraiser!  We can only hope our initiative is about to go viral!  New to the "Bloggers World", I ask for patience and forgiveness in advance!  My next post will include more information on our campaign and how to access the purchase of our hair streaks and/or making donations to our campaign.

We look forward to hearing from you!

It's Grayt to be me!
